Tackling period poverty in Hong Kong

“The most touching point is that we can exchange our knowledge on period health and the interactions in the workshops are made possible through the donations, to let more people understand that they have the privilege to choose and increase the knowledge on one’s body autonomy”. says Zoe, Free Periods HK.

LUÜNA x Free Periods HK
We have established a global network of social initiatives, whose communities in need we support through donations of healthy & planet-friendly period care and providing taboo-free menstrual health education. In 2020, we worked closely with social impact partners: Free Periods HK Rolling Books. These organizations work tirelessly to tackle deeply embedded menstrual stigma and together, we’re combatting period poverty.
Many students have to drop out of school or skip school due to menstruation, this happens all around Asia and the world. At LUÜNA, we work with our community and social impact partners to deliver taboo-free education around menstrual health in Cantonese and English. This helps to increase the knowledge and awareness of period care. This provides support to people from underprivileged backgrounds through the supply of free sustainable menstrual products. We also donate LUÜNA Period Cup under the “You Buy, We Give” initiative for distribution to low-income communities.
In response to the impact of COVID-19, we worked together with Rolling Books HK to distribute protection materials and our menstruation products e.g. organic cotton topsheet, to different ethnic minority families in Hong Kong. In 2021, we aim to work with more communities to provide essential period care to those in need.
