Companies must do more to better support the menstrual needs of their staff.

The results are in. It's time for A Better Period.

Menstruation is a natural, monthly occurrence that is essential to the continuation of humankind. It's even considered to be one of the six vital signs of health. Yet globally, attitudes towards periods are deeply rooted in shame and mystery. This pervades across all areas of society, but perhaps most notably, in the workplace.

A survey conducted by BUPA revealed that 23% of women have taken time off work because of their period in the last 6 months, with a following 36% not telling the truth about why they were unable to work.

When all facets of mental and physical health needs are met in the workplace, people have the capacity to do greater work. Access to period products (and education) in the workplace reduces the number of awkward dashes to the nearest convenience store, lessens stigma and heightens productivity.

Our own research shows that only 9% of offices provided period care, yet 81% provide tea or coffee. Moreover, 94% of women we surveyed had resorted to making a pad using toilet paper as a result.

Our A Better Period initiative has been designed with companies in mind. It works in two ways

  • Providing access to LUÜNA’s healthy, planet-friendly period products in your office space.
  • Delivering educational content that is gender-inclusive & sustainability-focused.

Just email us your company name & number of staff, and a LUÜNA team member will be in touch.

I'm ready to help create A Better Period.
